I'm not sure if I understand the correct usage here, but I did give it a shot:

# smart -o rpm-root=/tmp/tmp-root -o rpm-dbpath=/tmp/tmp-db install coreutils

Now I have a /tmp/tmp-root/tmp/tmp-db, which means it did change the dbpath, but
it saves it *inside* the chroot. IIUC, your intention was to save the rpm db
*outside* the chroot, isn't it?

I'm reviewing your code, and making some tests, but it's Gustavo who will decide
if it should be incorporated or not.
