I have several suggestions:

 - Complain in the mailing list.
 - Fix the problem.
 - Report the problem in the tracker and wait for someone to fix it.
 - Pay for someone to fix it.
 - Kill Smart, restart it, and behave like if nothing happened.
 - Stop using Smart.
 - Blame the universe for allowing such bastard OSS developers
   to be alive.
