removing *all* mirrors?

Did you mess up the shell variable EDITOR with the environment
variable EDITOR? Only the environment is inherited by the childs
of your shell.

~> tcsh
~> set EDITOR = xemacs
~> echo $EDITOR
xemacs
~> setenv EDITOR vim
~> echo $EDITOR
xemacs
~> env|grep EDITOR
EDITOR=vim
~> set|grep EDITOR
EDITOR  xemacs
