help, please -- lost the ability to run smart

Haven't had time yet this morning to dig into things.


But I've experienced in the past where an upgrade of a x86_64 package
__ALSO__ downloaded/installed the same-named i586 package !!

In my own mind I thought these were "false dependencies" left in the
x86_64 package by the originator doing a sloppy build process.
[I was too lazy to dig into the x86_64 package, and see its metadata.
 If the metadata had been o.k. then the problem might possibly have
 been the way 'smart' interacts with my specific system environment.]
