Why is the Log window modal ?

Using 'smart --gui' on SuSE 10.x. When, following a download, smart
brings up the Log window, I can't get focus to the main smart window
until I close the Log window. If the Log window says that a package
failed to download, one of my responses might be to 'unmark' that
package and click on 'apply' again. [For me, smart --gui does *not*
install the remaining downloaded packages if any downloads failed.]

As it is, I have to write down (from the Log window) which package(s)
to manually exclude from the 'marked list', when I want to again use
'apply' to install the rest of the packages on its original list. It
would be more convenient for me to leave the Log window on my screen
while I am using the main smart window to manipulate the 'marked list'.

Thanks, mikus
