It's possible, I did it myself.
Of course, Xorg is pretty complex case to handle, indeed.
Nevertheless, also for other cases (e.g. GNOME), I do think such a
downgrade command could be useful.

Well, yeah, Xorg is hard to downgrade (but not impossible).
Point is about a "downgrade" command in smart, not this particular case ;)
In terms of priorities, I'd say the "--from" or "--only-from" switch for
upgrade is a lot more important though, as it's something everyone would
use every day.
