Unable to create channel of type 'rpm_md'

Hello,

   after installing SuSE 64bit 10.1 I am unable to use my old channel 
definition  files (from 10.1 32bit installation). I get

smart upgrade
New channel 'Latest compiz quinn packages (compiz)' detected.
Include it? (Y/n): Y

error: While using /etc/smart/channels/compiz.channel: Unable to create 
channel             of type 'rpm_md'

Here is the channel definition file

[compiz]
name = Latest compiz quinn packages
baseurl = http://software.opensuse.org/download/Compiz-Quinn/SUSE_Linux_10.1/
type = rpm-md
disabled = no

I have updated the system to the latest patches , using smart 0.42.11
