smart update

That error message could come from adding a repository with a wrong URL.
As the metadata for that repository could never be fetched (because of
the wrong URL) and can never possibly be retrieved by "smart update",
smart will always complain like that.

Invoke "smart update" (as root) from a shell and see what broken
repository URL smart complains about.
Then either fix the URL, set the repository as disabled, or remove the
repository altogether.
