rpm database corruption (again)

I'd almost given up on smart. Running on fedora fc6. I'd do
smart upgrade --update

And almost daily I'd have a broken rpm database. Fixing it is painful.

The last several days I've been running

smart update
smart upgrade

As 2 separate steps. So far I haven't seen any problem. Could there be a
relation?
