File not found error

Update: I discovered that I had two smart processes running on this Suse
10.2 machine. Not sure how this happened. Both the 64 bit version and i586
were running sided by side. I removed the i586 version. Then using the gui,
and selecting File > Update Selected channels > (select box) smart updated
itself. Using File > Update Channels, is not working, nor is the command
line - smart update.
But Smart --gui is now showing the latest packages and is able to update these
as per normal. So some success. No error messages are present.
