[issue343] smart segmentation fault on each run

smart crash on each run, in shell or gui  or even on update.
it has ran fine for one week and today i can't do anything.

i've deleted the content of:
/var/lib/smart/channels
/var/lib/smart/packages
without any change

i've reinstalled python
i've uninstalled/installed smart

"rpm -qa -vv" does not segfault

i attach the result of:
gdb python --args python /usr/bin/smart update

versions installed are:
smart-0.51-56
smart-gui-0.51-56
rpm-python-4.4.2-164
python-2.5.1-39

# uname -a
Linux promethe 2.6.22.12-0.1-default #1 SMP 2007/11/06 23:05:18 UTC x86_64 
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

OpenSuse 10.3
