Directory vs. symlink in tarballs

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this has already been reported, but I noticed a little
strangeness in the tarball of the 1.2 release with respect to the 1.1
one. So, "tests/data/deb" is a symbolic link in 1.1 and a plain
directory in 1.2:

~% ls -ld smart-1.2/tests/data/deb drwxr-xr-x 2 free free 4096 2009-03-05
00:07 smart-1.2/tests/data/deb

~% ls -ld smart-1.1/tests/data/deb lrwxrwxrwx 1 free free 34 2009-10-02
11:03 smart-1.1/tests/data/deb -> aptdeb/dists/component/binary-i386

Note that the contents of the tests/data/deb directory in 1.2 are
exactly the same as aptdeb/dists/component/binary-i386, so in principle
the tests/data/deb directory could be replaced by symlink as it used to
be in the 1.1 tarball.

The bzr repository has a symlink, so I guess this change in the 1.2
tarball wasn't deliberate but rather happened by accident?

Ciao!
