I shall try an alternate approach. Not 'X' as in 'xorg' but 'X' as in 'X and Y and Z'.. variables.<br><br>Me: remove kernel-source<br>Smart: OK<br>Me: upgrade<br>Smart: OK. I see that you have kernel-source and kernel-default installed and there are updates available for them.
<br><br>If I were to proceed, smart would download lots of stuff I don't want (kernel-source), install both packages, remove the old kernel-source package, and then remove the new kernel-source package, too. How wasteful!
<br><br>What I am saying is that smart shouldn't consider packages you have asked it to remove as candidates for upgrade (except as dependencies, presumably).<br><br><br>-- <br>Jon
