I suspect this might be related to the reports of problems with transactions
freezing (issue 12) ? One suggestion from that thread was that there was some
problem with threading and that forcing LD_ASSUME_KERNEL might help. Whether it
is just coincidence or not, doing LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.6.0 smart... has worked
everytime for me (SuSE 10.0 X86_64 0.40-10 rpm).
