This is not the same issue indeed.

This is a problem in the Python RPM interface of old RPM versions. You either
have to upgrade your rpm, or use the rpmhelper module which is provided with
Smart itself, in the contrib/rpmhelper directory inside the tarball. This issue
is the only reason for the existence of rpmhelper, btw.
