smart 0.50rc1-7 ok @ shell, GUI fails

i've installed on opensuse 10.1,
smart-beta-0.50rc1-7.guru.suse101 at i686
smart-beta-addons-0.50rc1-7.guru.suse101 at i686
smart-beta-gui-0.50rc1-7.guru.suse101 at i686
i've been using it from shell for a bit.
when i just tried to start Smart from the SuSE desktop -- nothing happened. :-/
so, checking from console,
smart --gui
