rpm naming issue?

hi all,

i'm playing a bit around with smart.
using 0.42 i ran into the following problem:

i'm trying to install the following 2 rpms (part of EL4) using a rpm-md
based channel:

pkgname compat-libstdc++, version 7.3-2.96.128
pkgname compat-libstdc++-33, version 3.2.3-47.3

smart install  compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.128 compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3
gives:
Computing transaction... error: Can't install
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3 at x86_64: conflicted package
compat-libstdc++-7.3-2.96.128 at i386 is locked

is there a naming issue somewhere (it are 2 different packages, not
updates and can be installed next to each other without any problem.)
