smart-gui and x86_64

Hi everyone,

after switching to x86_64 on my openSUSE 10.2, one thing that is
annoying[1] is the handling of x86_64 packages in smart-gui (not smart at
the command line).

After "smart update", I use "smart --gui" to have a better overview on
updatable packages (hide non-updates). So I see the packages: at the
beginning (ordered alphabetically) the i386, i586, i686, noarch and at the
tail - ordered alphabetically again - the x86_64 packages. Why aren't they
sorted inside the other packages?

Next, the dependencies. Example: When I choose to update
apache2-module-php5, php5 comes up as a dependency. But not only
php5 at x86_64, php5 at i586 too. So, after I mark all the packages I want to
update, I change the view to "hide unmarked" and unmark all those i586
packages. Not nice, that I have to scroll up and down to compare if a
marked i586 package has a x86_64 counterpart... The unmarking itself does
not bring up any errors, so I am sure that there is no need to mark the
i586 packages as dependencies. Is there a possibility to avoid "double
marking"? When using "smart upgrade" via commandline, I do not get dupe
packages (for x86_64 plus i586).

Regards,
Werner

[1] much more annoying is the fact that there is no up-to-date java plugin
for a web browser on x86_64 :-( - the last version provided by Sun was 1.4.2...
