Smart upgrade extremely slow (or hangs)

OK, so it's probably simply a bug in smart (actually yesterday I let
it accidentally run for 150 minutes: still no progress, while urpmi
resolves the dependencies for 1400 packages to update in about 2
minutes). Is there a way I can provide information so this can be
debugged?
