Smart does that automatically because it reads info from the RPM database.

Maybe the Sun package does not have the same Provides as your distro 
Java package. You can find that out by checking what is the name of the 
package OpenOffice is asking as Requirement, then run 'rpm -q 
--whatprovides <name>'. If this does not list Sun's Java package, then 
you found your problem.
