Smart 1.1.1 doesn't work on Fedora 10 and openSUSE 11.1,
but only on the older Fedora 9 and openSUSE 11.0 releases.

The necessary patches have been gathered up in the "1.1.2"
milestone: https://launchpad.net/smart/+milestone/1.1.2,
and have also been added downstream as patches since before.
(the patches are mostly for python 2.6 and rpm.org changes)

There are currently a number of new issues gathering for
upcoming Fedora 11 (rawhide) and openSUSE 11.2 (factory)...

Support for Mandriva (cooker) requires certain new features,
so have been suggested for the Smart "1.2" release instead...
(or even "1.3", since some are not completely developed yet -
the mdv "smart" package follows the lp "mandriva" code branch)

Ditto with the "yumchannelsync" and "zyppchannelsync" plugins,
and enhancements like mirrorlist or changelog or updateinfo...
(some new features, like comps.xml or patterns, was pushed to
a future release in order to have a better implementation done)
