I think up2date sends information to that URL using a POST method, which
probably is the login/password for the user trying to access the
repository.

If that is the case, Smart doesn't support it, indeed.

You could sniff the protocol (ethereal, or whatever sniffer you feel
comfortable with) to check what really happens. Maybe we could work out
supporting it on future versions of Smart if enough information is given
(official documentation would be much better then protocol sniffing or
souce code poking). :)
