On FC5 it looks like it's just the kernel upgrade.

Just as an official report (most are simply dispersed on various
lists) I've added you to
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=214846, an apt
problem reporter, ...

... who when asked about yum on his system answered with

but perhaps he's running in on a laptop, or the issues are not at
rpmdb level. Feel free to check the bug out.
